August 29th, 2010: Kilbrin Reach Final
In Kanturk on Sunday August 26th, Kilbrin defeated Banteer to qualify for the final of the Junior Hurling Championship. The game turned out to be an unusually one-sided affair, surprising most experts who had predicted a tight game. The early exchanges were close with the decisive score of the first half coming in the form of a well-taken goal from Kilbrin captain Damien Crowley.
Kilbrin continued to dominate with strong displays from Paudie O’Callaghan, Tomás O’Riordan and William Egan in defence, midfielders Patrick Egan and Nelius O’Reilly holding sway and Liam Daly, Noel O’Callaghan, Thomas O’Reilly and Damien Crowley a constant threat in attack.
The victory sets up an intriguing final against Meelin in Tullylease on September 12th. Kilbrin will look to avenge defeats suffered at the semi final stage of last years Championship and in this years League semi final.
August 20th, 2010: County Junior B Football Win
On Friday August 20th in Pairc Ui Rinn Kilbrin were crowned County Junior B Football Champions for the third time. Johnny Sheahan accepted the Cup from County Board Chairman Jerry O’Sullivan amid scenes of great excitement.
It was a great team performance that saw Kilbrin play second fiddle to Charleville for most if not all of the first half. Stout defending by the defence especially Joe Cashman and Paudie O’Callaghan denied the opposition a major score until the stroke of half time. That goal left Kilbrin in arrears by four points at the break.
The second half started with Kilbrin on the attack with a point from Daniel O’Sullivan cutting the deficit. Then on the three quarter stage a cross field pass from “Man Of The Match” Eoin Sheahan found Daniel O’Sullivan who was upended in the penalty area. Adi Nash as he had done previously in the campaign dispatched the penalty to the net. Further points were added by Patrick Egan and Liam Daly to give Kilbrin a two point advantage. Charleville reduced the margin to the minimum and in the dying minutes it took a wonderful double save from captain Johnny Sheahan to ensure the silverware was returning to Kilbrin.

This dominance led to Kilbrin leading on a scoreline of 2 06 to 1 04 at the short whistle.
The second half saw the East Cork side mount a big challenge eating into Kilbrin’s lead bringing it to the minimum in the dying minutes. A great team effort saw Kilbrin hold out with Patrick Egan kicking a great point and Joe Cashman commanding in defence.

Selector Dave Brosnan provides a link to the 1995 victory when he lined out between the posts. The Club wishes captain Johnny Sheahan and the boys along with team management Dave Brosnan, Shane O’Riordan and Kieran Crowley well.
August 6th, 2010: William Egan
Best of luck to William Egan in Croke Park on Sunday as he and his team mates try to stop Kilkenny reaching the All Ireland Final. William has been making steady progress with the Senior squad this year despite niggling injuries limiting his opportunities during the league.
It was in extra time in the Munster final replay against Waterford that William made his Senior Championship debut, a point from midfield wasn’t enough to deny Waterford on that occasion. A substitute appearance in the quarter final where he again raised a white flag showed he was not overawed by the big occasion. Cork face a huge test on Sunday against Kilkenny and hopefully William will make an impact if introduced.
When William was introduced against Waterford on July 17, 2010 he became the first Kilbrin player to play Senior Championship for Cork since Tom Field (Ballygraddy) lined out for Cork v Tipperary on July 21st 1968.

Kilbrin Junior hurlers defeated Freemount in the opening round of the 2010 junior hurling Championship on Sunday June 27th last in Kanturk. The final score of 1-13 to 0-7 somewhat flattered Kilbrin as Freemount were particularly wasteful in front of goal early in the game. Features of the game were an outstanding save by Paudie O’Callaghan before the break and a very well taken goal by Liam Daly mid way through the second half. Kilbrin now look forward to a semi final in early August; opposition unknown.
